        also... would be cool if the device has GPS to track (when you've got a GPS lock or via cell tower/wifi lookup etc using something like http://tinyurl.com/obmnavizon) where you are going when you add those steps up each day.

        the app could also automatically upload stats to HealthVault on a daily basis

        it's pretty hard to write a pedometer app for a phone - even one like the Touch Pro that has an acceleratometer. First of all running the app drains the power fairly quickly, but secondly it's going to get confused when you pick it up to answer a call etc...
        that said, have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458606 it you have a Diamond/Touch Pro device...
